Jean Jackets. You know that there are so many different styles of jean jackets out there. Let’s look at just a few of them.
Do you remember the railroad jacket with vertical stripes? If I ever bought one of those, maybe I could’ve gotten a job on the Little Engine that Could…Choo Choo!!! Also, I was wondering if you remember when those were extremely popular in the 1960s. They even had the matching overalls to boot! Oh, so groovy!!
Then, there is the oversized boyfriend jacket. Why in the world do they call it “boyfriend”? Really, are people’s boyfriends oversized? Just kidding. These jackets add a touch of chic and savvy when it comes to fashion!
Last, but not least, is the ever-popular distressed jean jacket. You probably know where I am going with this one. Is the distressed jean jacket worn only at stressful times? Silly assumption on my part but distressed means anxious or worried about a problem. Maybe it’s really an antidote for stress, when putting on a distressed jean jacket provides a sense of comfort and security!
There is one thing that all these jean jackets have in common. They are all made from denim! What was once a fabric used for a working textile has become a staple item in the fashion industry (Masterclass staff, Nov 8, 2020). The denim jacket is manufactured with strong fibers to last a long time. In Deuteronomy 8:4, we are reminded of the Israelites being in the desert for forty long years and God giving them clothes that didn’t wear out! I wonder, were their clothes made from denim? Ha, ha, ha!!! Silly thought, but can you see it? Levi Strauss’s descendants may have lived back then and had a lucrative partnership with God, the Creator. Remember this is all in fun.
Next time you reach for your jean jacket, think of it as an old familiar friend designed for a long-term relationship!!!
